“As anarchists, we seek to embody everything the fascists oppose. Our bonds of solidarity are based in our shared struggles for freedom. #Today_marks_the_second_anarchist_bookfair_that_I’ve_tabled_at 

(#for_AK_Press)_where_Nazi_types_tried_to_disrupt_it.

The first was in Houston a little over a year ago. Don’t mess with Texas anarchists; they know how to not only defend a space but simultaneously create space for care, with some people leaping to lock out the white supremacists while others helped calm folks with herbal tinctures, for instance.

This second time was on the second day of the Boston Anarchist Bookfair. I wasn’t in the main tabling area when the 4-5 Patriot Front guys came walking in; I was doing a workshop on #TryAnarchismForLife, stressing the need to deeply live out our ethics in all situations, through all that life throws at us. But I was so proud of all who met the chants of “blood and soil” by swiftly countering “Nazis out,” and within a couple minutes, making sure they were out the door and went far, far away. I’m especially proud of my young, newish anarchist friends who made good use of their beautiful identities — such as trans and Muslim — to unnerve the Nazis from the get-go. I’ll leave it to my pals to tell their story if they so choose, yet let’s just say that ”fierce” but also “friendly” tactics totally confused the fash. Meanwhile, we got to end my workshop by practicing the solidarity of all returning together to the tabling area. Since, yeah, being anarchistic for life means #Solidarity, #MutualAid, and #CollectiveCare, among so many other warm and fuzzy ways of having each other’s backs through thick and thin.
