At least two children have been killed during forced evictions of the Telerj favela, and a reporter from Globo was arrested. 1,650 cops descended on the favela, shooting guns and throwing bombs at residents. Thousands of people are protesting, and have destroyed the federal bank Caixa Economica, and set fire to city buses and a police car. Demonstrations are expected to continue, and spread to other areas.
