Injuries, ARRESTS AS ISRAELI OCCUPATION DEMOLISHES SHOP IN OCCUPIED EAST JERUSALEM

On the morning of Wednesday, August 29th Israel’s occupation forces in occupied East Jerusalem’s Silwan neighborhood demolished a building housing a printing shop belonging to Ezz Samarin and injured at least 7 people according to different sources and arrested at least two, possibly three people.
As usual, Israeli occupation claimed that the building housing the printing shop would have been built without a permit from the occupation, which only grants 5 % of building permit petitions by Palestinians in the occupied East Jerusalem.
There were ongoing appeals in Israeli occupation court against the decisions not to grant a permit and to demolish the building. Two months ago the Siam family, which at least by that owned the building, was able to get a court order blocking demolition at the time.
Two of the arrested have been identified as Tareq Roweidi and Ezz Samarin. Some sources mention a third person being arrested. It’s unclear whether Ezz Samarin who was arrested is the same as the owner of the printing shop, as one source gives his comment after the demolition.
Sources give the number of injuries resulting from physical violence (‘severe beating’ in one news article) by the Israeli occupation forces’ members as 7-10 and two mentions three pregnant women being among them, while one also mentions children being injured.
Only one person, Mourad Samarin, is identified as being hospitalized as a result of an injury he suffered.
