And you've got to indicate to the people who run it, to the people who own it that unless you're free, the machine will be prevented from working at all.” Mario Savio **************************** A Terrorist Group Assassinates Brigadier General Dr. Issa al-Kholi in Damascus Feb 11, 2012 GOVERNORATES, (SANA)- In the framework of targeting the Syrian intellectuals and the medical and technical cadres, an armed terrorist group on Saturday morning assassinated Director of Hamish Hospital in Damascus Brigadier General, Dr. Issa al-Kholi, before his house at Rukn Eddin Neighborhood. SANA reporter was informed that three gunmen awaited Dr. al-Kholi till he got out of his home and shot him to death. Martyr al-Kholi held a Bachelor's Degree in Arthritis from universities of Romania and got specialized in universities and hospitals in Paris. He was head of the Arthritis Division at Tishreen Military Hospital in 2004, then he held the position of chief doctor at Martyr Ahmad Hameesh Hospital. The martyr was born in Jableh, Lattakia, in 1957 and left behind four children. Over the past period, a number of efficient, skilled and specialized national cadres were assassinated by armed terrorist groups. Those include:
Houses of Writer from Idleb and Lebanese al-Jadeed TV Correspondent Burned by Terrorists Meanwhile in the northern province of Idleb, an armed terrorist group burned the house of Mohammad Khaled al-Khudr, member of the Idleb Branch of the Arab Writers Union, in al-Maghara village in Ariha in Jabal al-Zawiya. SANA correspondent in the province said the house's contents were completely burned, including a library full of valuable and rare books belonging to the writer. Al-Khudr held the position of chairman of the Arab Writers Union in Idleb and had been kidnapped earlier and threatened with death. On Friday, a group of terrorists blew off the house of the Lebanese al-Jadeed TV correspondent, Nidal Hmeidi, and his brother in the above-mentioned village. This is the second time Hmeidi's house comes under attack as it was earlier burned by another terrorist group. Journalist Hmeidi told SANA in a phone call that his house was completely burned down to the ground by the terrorists. The Syrian Journalists Union denounced the targeting of the house of fellow colleague Hmeidi, saying these criminal acts against journalists aim to terrorize them and hinder them from practicing their job and conveying the truth about the acts of killing taking place on the ground. Syrian Journalists' Union, Syrian Observatory for Victims of Violence and Terrorism Condemn Attack on Journalist Hmeidi House The Syrian Journalists' Union condemned on Saturday the attack by a terrorist group on the house of the Lebanese al-Jadeed TV correspondent, Nidal Hmeidi, in al-Maghara village in Ariha in Jabal al-Zawiya, considering it an attempt to intimidate journalists to prevent them from conveying the true image of the situation in Syria. The Syrian Observatory for Victims of Violence and Terrorism said that the attack came to punish Hmeidi for brushing off threats by armed terrorist groups who have been pressuring him to criticize the Syrian regime. The Observatory considered that the silence of the international and Arab press organizations over the practices of the terrorist groups is an evidence of their involvement in bloodletting in Syria, in league with the biased channels which are targeting the Syrian people's unity. Authorities Clash With Armed Terrorist Groups in Homs, Kill and Wound Number of TerroristsAuthorities continued pursuing armed terrorist groups in Baba Amr neighborhood in Homs city. SANA correspondent in Homs said that authorities clashed with armed terrorist groups in Baba Amr, adding that numbers of the terrorists were killed or wounded and others turned themselves in. 'The authorities also dismantled several explosive charges planted by the armed terrorist groups in the neighborhood. Authorities Clash with Armed Terrorist Groups in Daraa Countryside, Confiscate Weapons, Disarm Explosive and Arrest Terrorists in Hama The authorities clashed with an armed terrorist group which was carrying out vandalism and attacking public and private property in al-Msayfara town in Daraa countryside. An official source said that several terrorist were killed in the clash and others were wounded, with the authorities arresting a large number of terrorists and confiscated the firearms they had. Six members of the authorities were martyred in the clash, including Major Ali al-Trabulsi, and several were wounded. The source said that after pursuing members of armed terrorist groups and raiding their dens, the authorities confiscated various weapons including 14 AK-47 rifles, handguns and a PKC machinegun, in addition to 300 AK-47 rounds, RPG rounds, explosive charges of foreign manufacture, 13 handmade explosives each weighing 30 kg, in addition to an advanced communications station, walkie-talkies, Senao wireless phones and Thuraya satellite phones. During their pursuit of armed terrorist groups in Hama, the authorities confiscated firearms and ammunition used by these groups, arrested a number of terrorists, and disarmed three explosive devices. The confiscated weapons include14 AK-47 rifles, 3 sniper rifles, 2 machineguns, 6 handguns, hunting rifles, an RPG rifle with several rounds, and Energia missiles, in addition to a large amount of ammo, 16 explosive devices, materials for making explosives, offensive and defensive grenades, military uniforms, swords, sharp implements and a night-vision visor.
