"Splitting headache from trying to take in too much pain today--other people's pain--starting with running into someone this morning who told me, through tears in their eyes, that following Occupy Philly's eviction, occupiers either seemed to remain hopeful & engaged, or else fell into deep depression (like them) because it's too late & society's falling apart, to texts & emails from faraway friend...s later in the day about the pain of trying to survive, much less live in this harsh world. Mostly, splitting headache from wishing I could fix all that pain, knowing I can't, and doing a bad job of even being supportive, because words lack sometimes, and because so much of this pain demands another kind of humanity altogether, only barely imaginable even on this one-year anniversary of the joys (& pains) of Egypt's uprising."
