Remembering John Gallagher, the Canadian who fell fighting alongside Kurds

John Robert Gallagher, a 32-year-old Canadian volunteer fighter, was killed this week in the fight against the so-called Islamic State, or ISIS. 

  رفیق 32 ساله کانادائی, اول بعنوان پیشمرگه در کردستان عراق مشغول مبارزه بود, و بعد در کنار رزمندگان سوری - پریروز-علیه داعش , در حمله انتحاری داعشیان , در شهر هاساکا ,جان خود را از دست داد.

Gallagher, who served in the Canadian Armed Forces, travelled to Iraq in April 2015 to join forces with the Peshmerga. In July, he joined the Kurdish YPG in Syria. 

He was killed by an ISIS suicide bomber in the Syrian town of Hasakah. In this exclusive Rudaw interview from July, Gallagher shares his story of fighting ISIS alongside the Kurds, where he eventually made the ultimate sacrifice.
